South Korea’s Shin Hwa World reported improving revenue in the first half of 2026, although its casino business remained under pressure.

Gaming revenue at Les A Casino, located within Jeju Shinhwa World, increased 14.6% year-on-year to HK$71 million (US$9.1 million), driven mainly by higher non-rolling gaming volumes.

However, the gaming segment’s loss widened to HK$66.4 million (US$8.5 million) from HK$59.6 million a year earlier.

Overall Business Shows Improvement

Across the group, revenue increased 17.8% to HK$483.5 million, while its overall net loss narrowed significantly from HK$244.4 million to HK$68.3 million (US$8.7 million).

Non-gaming performed particularly well, with integrated resort revenue rising 20.9% to HK$362.6 million.

Hotels, food and beverage, MICE events, theme parks and other attractions helped support the improvement as tourist numbers to Jeju increased.

Casino Looks to International Visitors

Les A Casino is one of South Korea’s larger foreigners-only casinos, operating 179 gaming tables and 65 slot and electronic gaming machines.

The property has also been using international poker tournaments as part of its strategy to attract more overseas visitors to Jeju.

Management Remarks

Shin Hwa World management said continued facility improvements and strategic marketing are expected to support future operating performance.

The company added that it remains committed to developing Jeju Shinhwa World into a “sustainable and internationally competitive integrated resort destination.”

Insights

Shin Hwa World’s results highlight the growing importance of non-gaming attractions, tourism and international events in supporting modern integrated resorts.

While casino revenue is recovering, Jeju Shinhwa World’s stronger performance across hotels, F&B, entertainment and MICE shows how integrated resorts increasingly rely on a much broader mix of businesses.

For industry professionals, this also creates opportunities beyond traditional casino roles — particularly across hospitality, marketing, events, gaming operations and resort management.
