Sands China has earned a groundbreaking acknowledgment: becoming the first integrated resort (IR) operator in the Asia‑Pacific region—and the first company within Macau’s tourism and service sector—to be certified as a Top Employer by the globally recognized Top Employer Institute, headquartered in Amsterdam. This award recognizes Sands China’s excellence across 18 core human resources areas, including leadership, talent acquisition, workplace environment, and employee recognition—assessed against more than 200 rigorous criteria.
The certification underscores Sands China’s forward-thinking human capital strategies. The company has crafted over 1,400 distinct roles spanning MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), hospitality, retail, entertainment, and F&B, offering more than 90,000 employment opportunities to local residents. Complementing this, Sands China has implemented over ten elite training programs to nurture the next generation of local talent and shaped best practices in diversity and inclusion—specifically in hiring persons with disabilities—which earned commendation from the Top Employer Institute.
Grant Chum, CEO and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., commented on the certification: “Sands China remains firm in its commitment to nurture team members alongside the growth of the company. We continuously introduce talent development initiatives aligned with industry growth... This recognition affirms the fruits of placing people at the heart of our strategy and refining our human resources practices.” His remarks highlight how the company sees employee development as pivotal to both its own and Macau’s economic diversification efforts.
This milestone builds upon a strong track record: in 2024, Sands China captured 31 human resources awards, spanning occupational safety, talent development, and corporate culture—reflecting its consistent investment in people-centric practices. In prior years, it won 27 HR accolades in 2023 and 14 in 2022 across Greater China and Asia Pacific for workplace culture, employee well‑being, and talent innovation.
