Ho Tram to Add Locals Gaming with Enhanced “World-Class” Responsible Gaming Standards

Ho Tram Project Company, operator of The Grand Ho Tram integrated resort in Vietnam, has announced that the upcoming introduction of locals gaming will be accompanied by a suite of “world-class responsible gaming practices”. The operator is aligning its measures with international standards as Vietnam prepares to expand its long-restricted gaming access for citizens. This comes as the government evaluates trial results from previous pilot programs (such as Corona Resort on Phu Quoc), which reported as generating strong tax revenue but requiring stronger RG oversight.

Ho Tram said it would implement enhanced ID verification, spending limits, player behavioural monitoring, and dedicated counselling channels. Industry observers note that these commitments mirror practices used in Singapore and the Philippines, both referenced frequently in multi-source regulatory analyses (e.g., UNLV International Gaming Institute, ASEAN Gaming Summit panels). Ho Tram also emphasised collaboration with authorities to ensure compliance with Vietnam’s evolving regulatory framework, which has been trending toward stricter AML requirements and higher transparency on Vietnam’s tightening of financial-crime rules.

The expansion of locals gaming is viewed as a major milestone for Ho Tram’s long-term business model. Multi market analysts have noted that Vietnam’s gaming sector has historically been constrained by the prohibition on local players, limiting mass-market potential despite fast-growing domestic disposable income. The introduction of local participation is expected to significantly lift visitation and revenue at Ho Tram, which has already been investing heavily in hotel upgrades, entertainment offerings, and non-gaming attractions to attract broader customer segments.

Still, analysts caution that Vietnam will likely take a conservative, highly supervised approach. Past pilot results indicated strong demand but also raised concerns about gambling harm, prompting policymakers to insist that any expansion must be accompanied by strict responsible gaming safeguards. Ho Tram’s public commitment to a “world-class” framework is therefore seen as critical to securing regulatory trust and ensuring long-term sustainability as Vietnam continues modernising its gaming industry.
